The Spring Temple Buddha is a statue depicting Vairocana Buddha located in the Zhaocun township of Lushan County, Henan, China. At 128 m (420 ft), which includes a 20 m (66 ft) lotus throne, it is the tallest statue in the world. It derives its name from nearby hot spring, which is renowned for its curative properties.
Completed in 2002, initially the height of statue including its lotus throne was 128 meters. The 25 meters high pedestal on which the statue is placed gave it a total height of 153 meters. In October 2008 work was started on reshaping the hill on which the statute stands and two further pedestals are being constructed which will give the monument a total height of 208 meters. Compared to this the total height of Statue of Liberty including its pedestal is only 93 meters. Plans of the construction of the Spring Temple Buddha were announced soon after the blowing up of the Bamiyan Buddhas by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

The first face looks towards the inland and other two faces points towards the sea to represent the blessing from Goddess all over the world. The statues of Emperors Yan and Huang of china, at 106 meters, comes fifth in the list of tallest statues. The construction took 20 years to complete having started in 1987.
